Relief & Panoramique

The whole lot of that series has been painted according to Relief and Panoramic. The things I choose to paint are rather trees, country lanes and foliage with little trace of civilization. I try to get the depth of field and to open up horizontality as much as I can, this is emphasized by my choice to produce diptych or triptych canvases. "Trying space and light so as to produce time. The time of the one who watches and who maybe then becomes...the one in charge of one's own temporality.

I started painting my pieces of art about Picardy outdoors, Picardy being my homeland. I keep on doing so, following my instinct, to discover new landscapes. With time, I enjoy coming back to the places where I produced my pieces of art. Most of these places have been transformed, have evolved or have been altered. I remember having noticed that some trees had been cut off for different reasons. All these places I used to paint were always isolated, so I thought, as I was looking for a lack of signs or of anything similarly in relation with civilization. Now, the presence of mankind can be noticed in most of these places. A few years ago, due to my peregrinations and meetings, I did several big ephemeral sand compositions on the ground in Japan, not very far from Fukushima.
